Arsenal handed unexpected Mbappe transfer hope as Saudi Arabia target swoop (2024)

The conclusion of the Premier League campaign is edging closer to completion as Arsenal require a favour from London rivals West Ham United if they are to deny Manchester City a fourth successive top-flight crown. Plans will already be in place for their tactics in the transfer window this summer with a view to next season.

Whether the feeling on Sunday afternoon will be disappointment or jubilation remains to be seen, but the Gunners have pushed Pep Guardiola's side to the brink in the title race. Everton are the visitors to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday while the Hammers make the trip to the Etihad Stadium - City currently have a two-point gap following their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

What is clear is that Mikel Arteta will bring some changes during the close season. With Liverpool embarking on a new chapter following Jurgen Klopp's departure, the complexion of the title race next year is uncertain and Arsenal will be hoping that they can make the necessary additions to compete in the upper reaches again.

Here football.london brings you the latest round-up of rumours from across the planet and offers a fresh insight into just how they can be viewed. Starting with one of the biggest names in world football at the minute...

Kylian Mbappe claim could open door to Arsenal move

YouTube sensation iShowSpeed has dismissed reports that Kylian Mbappe will join Real Madrid this summer. The Frenchman has been at the centre of the most publicised transfer sagas in history as he prepares to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe declared that he would be ending his association with the Parisiens following a successful spell in the French capital. The long-running pursuit of the 25-year-old has dominated the transfer landscape with Arsenal said to be among the interested parties from the Premier League.

The YouTuber said: "He's not going to Real Madrid, he's not going. I promise you. Don't ask me how I know but he's not going. Trust me. I've got the real insight. Trust me."

He continued: "I'm going to tell you all where he is going. Don't ask me how I know, but watch how he doesn't go [to] Real Madrid. And he's going [to] Arsenal. You only heard it from me, you only heard it from me."

football.london says:Who knows with football transfers? Kylian Mbappe has made a u-turn to stay at PSG in the past, maybe he could do it one more time.

Without being too much of a cynic, the serial wind-up merchant that is iShowSpeed could be up to his old tricks again. While Arsenal need attacking reinforcements, particularly centre-forwards, a move for Mbappe would be financially unreasonable.

Key exits for Arsenal

It has been suggested that Saudi Arabia could look to North London for their latest summer influx. Last year, Chelsea and Liverpool profited from the ambitious plans in the Middle East to bolster the quality in their Saudi Pro League.

Edouard Mendy, N'Golo Kante, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were among the high-profile imports almost 12 months ago and it appears there will be no let up for Premier League clubs. Mohamed Salah and Kevin de Bruyne have been earmarked as key players in their ambitions to boost the profile of their league.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal duo Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey are being targeted by the region.

"Two Arsenal stars have also been linked with Saudi. Firstly, Gabriel Jesus has been mentioned as a target, but at the moment he is not talking to any Saudi clubs," he said.

"There are no proper negotiations ongoing, it’s just about interest. It’s the same for Thomas Partey – he was a target for Saudi last summer, but he’s not in contact with them at the moment.

"Another name to watch at Arsenal is Reiss Nelson. It’s a possibility that he could be leaving the club. There was interest in Nelson last summer but he ended up signing a new contract.

"Still, he will now consider proposals in the summer and Arsenal too; they’re not desperate to part ways, only in case there’s a good proposal in the summer transfer window."

football.london says: Now could be the opportunity for Arsenal to cash in on their assets and continue their growth under Arteta. The cash injection from the sale of Jesus and/or Partey could be ideal to line the coffers for this summer's spending.

With the threat of FFP looming in North London and across the Premier League, it would be the perfect chance to level the finances and allow room to make additions without the threat of sanctions.
